I would suggest you fly to Lombok from Bali - only a 25 minute flight.Stay in Senggigi for a night or two, there are many fine hotels. (Senggigi beach Hotel) Hire a boat on the beach at Senggigi to take you to Gili Trawangan for 2 or 3 nights, that will be an hour trip. Hotel Ombak or Almarik is good on the island which is very quiet. Come back to Senggigi via Bangsal and the local boat and then go to Kuta, Lombok in the South for surfing. TAlk to locals in the street to make a surfing contact in Senggigi before you go south. Lombok is great!!
