1. Your hotel will have beach towels at the pool. You can usually take them back to your room at most places so you can dry them off, and take them to the beach if needed. Otherwise you can buy beachtowels over there pretty cheaply, then give them away before you come home.

2. Clothing depends on you really. Lightweight clothes are easy to find in regular sizes. Larger sizes are becoming easier to find. If you plan on buying heaps of clothes, don't take many with you.

3. Thongs or reef sandals are all I wear in Bali. If you're planning on going to some of the more flash five star restaurants, you might need something else, but otherwise thongs are fine for dinner.

Kids are kids no matter where you go and they tend to like the same sorts of things. Bouncy balls, colouring pencils and books, bubble blowers, hair accessories for girls, toy cars for boys. I don't know about the $2 coins though as they can't really exchange them anywhere. You'll find you get approached at the airport as you're departing, there'll be guys with rolls of $2 coins they will ask you to buy from them as they can't exchange them anywhere else.

Most of all, just relax and have fun.
