Back to reality and struggling actually !!Our family of 4 booked hastily with the lovely Nicno for a short but sweet holiday.........
We left Perth on the only flight out we could get on the 8th Perth Via Jakarta at 4.40pm...well actually flight delayed and we left sometime after 5pm.Seemed a fairly long flight to Jakarta and then there was a lot of confusion for us westerners as to where we were supposed to go to get our new boarding passes etc but we eventually found the line up and waited patiently...(you have to remind yourself we're on Bali time already here !!)we were under the impression that because we had arrived late our connecting flight might be ready to go but alas another delay with of course no explanation either time.We eventually landed in Bali around 2am.Fairly quickly through VOA and customs and outside to be met by Rico again. Ah lovely to be back in Bali, its warm !!!
Got into our rooms at Melasti at 3am and after quick showers we all crashed.
Our rooms at melasti are side by side in the new suites above the lazy river pool, they are huge and like all the rooms I have seen at Mealsti have the seperate shower then shower over bath then toilet and bidet as well, all in marble tiles, clean as well .
Day one 9/8 we went up to Bintang supermarket and organised Bali sim cards for our old Nokia phones, put on too much creditm but werent sure how much to do and dint want to keep coming back to top up.
Today we changed money at the changers next door to Spaghetti Jazz in Seminyak and go the best rate of the trip 7985 !! wish we'd done the lot then but it only went as low as 7600 so you cant complain about that really.
Went to Carrefour today and bought a DVD player as ours at home is broken.Cost 319 R.Also grabbed some supplies but have to say I dont like these huge big stores at the best of times as I find them overwhelming with all the goodies.Had lunch at the food hall ok meals.
Hubby and son had reflexology at Melasti Spa this arvo and daughter and I had the warm stone massage. All good except my rocks were a bit hot so i tild my lady a few times as I didnt want to get burnt.Met another lady from Bunbury there as we were leaving ( such a small world hey !!)
Poco Loco for tea tonight as too tired to venture too far.Great food , ordered too much and couldnt eat it all !!
Will have to really shorten my days here or we'll never get through it all !!
Fri 10/8 up about 9 (dont know how you lot get up so early !!) Dropped 3/4 pants to Brisbane Tailors to get copies made.Daughter and I walked from Bintang supermarket and did the block around Seminyak.Got thigs from Biasa and Flamingo( daughter loved the "fleuro" gear there ).Had light lunch at PANTERAI greek and it was VERY good.
Later on went up to Ketuts and got the boys kitted out for the next year or two, had drinks at BILLYs on the way there and back.
Tea at Bali Bagus very nice .Had to do the obligatory DVD's and Cd's and daughter bought those ridiculous bright coloured sunnies !!
Sat 11/8
Tommy's for breakkie in Rum Jungle ....always good !! Silver earings from Bintang Silver in Padma Utara.Walked back via 3 bros lane to hotel.
Hubby and I did Geneva and as I'v been so many times vefore I was very well behaved and jsut got a few nick naks and placemats etc.
Got back and walked around to Ricky's bar to drop off our bags of donations and school books and met Ricky and then stayed for lunch and drinks !!While we were there daugter and I ordered leather gear from Merrys' Collections across the road and pearl necklaces from Alamas Enterprises as well.
Later on we walked up to Lanai on the beach fornt for tea.Lashed out on deserts here too.Very nice.
Sun 12/8 My birthday so we headed up to Ku De Ta for breakkie where i indulged in scrambled eggs with smoked salmon and champagne mmmmmm. We saw a massive cremation ceremony about to happen on the beach near to KDT, have really never seen quite so many people ever. They really looked spectacular.
Picked up necklaces from Almas and then Rico picked us up to go to Padang Padang/Dreamland and Blue Point...weather is overcast which is a shame but we thought we'd better go anyway as it might not change.Had a look at the pool area at Blue Point which is awesome but we ate and drank at the warung next door, not too hungry as of our late breakkie today.Went to the Cecuk dance at Uluwatu which was great to experience.12 yr old was probably most impressedto our great surprise. Loved the cliffs and views myself.
Ended up at De Memedi restaurant at the GWK cultural park which was ineterseting as they were having a huge concert there with 30.000 young people apparently...the traffic was chaotic. The restaurant was very very nice, the view was stunning but unfortunately there were only 3 tables there including us so the atmosphere wasnt great !!
Folks I will have to finsh this another time as my feet are falling asleep....hope its not too boring !!
