not in the highest category of risk takers. But I am off to Bali again in 4 weeks for my 9th trip. I too visited just after the bombings and most recently in June this year. You will get heaps of advice from heaps of people, but at the end of the day, you are the only one who can make the decision regarding what is best for your family. I will say that from my experience, Bali is still a great place to visit and the only way to avoid the things you mention is to stay at home froever and never travel. But the 91 y.o who was bashed in her home in the last few days would argue about how safe home is. Yes terrorism is a fact of life, and you need to assess the size of the potential risk. As for bird flu...it seems isolated in the north west at the moment and the risk appears minimal. Personally I believe aspects of living in Melbourne are more frightening than anything I have ever experienced in Bali. Make a decision you're happy to live with. Cheers
