The truth of the matteris that very few flights into or out of Perth are effected by bad weather. It does happen but not as much as some people are suggesting. I would also suggest that the story on small fuel loads (not enough to go to Kal) may also be an urban myth. Internnational requirements make it compulsory for ALL flights to carry sufficient fuel for their journey plus an extra 10% reserve, plus 30 minutes of holding fuel, plus set reserves if bad weather is expected and, last but not least, sufficient fuel for a diversion to a suitable field if the weather dictates that is necessary. The total amount of fuel is included on the aircraft flight plan and made available to air taffic control. The end result is that the aircraft should have more than enough fuel to safely carry you to your destination, or alternate, with no problems. Of course, if you believe in conspiracy theories, Garuda could be falsifying all their flight plans and lying to all and sundry.
The European ban was as a result of perceived safety concerns and not because Garuda was a bit slack submitting some paper work.
Cheers
