to search the net. I use travel.com.au as they have instant seating available, unlike others that take the booking and then let you know if there are seats available.
When I get the seats on the flight I want with the price I want I then ring the airline direct. You can still change the dates and times even though you have confirmed flights so you can be waitlisted for example the 5th while having confirmed bookings on the 3rd. You don't need to make a desicion till it is time to pay.
Also by phoning direct you eliminate the booking and courier charges that these companies charge as for a group they can add up. Now that Garuda do e-ticket it is as simple as paying via CC then waiting for your ticket to be emailed.
I usually book not far in advance and like to know for sure that I have the flight, not have to submit details then wait for someone to get back to me to tell me if there is a seat availavle only to not be able to find another one. Have booked the last 12 flights this way for myself and family. No problems
