Late jbr and 1st post on this forum, was in Bali 30th June until 14th July, stayed at the Grand Mirage in Tunjung Benoa, have been to Bali several times before over the years and stayed in Kuta, Tuban and Sanur, like to try different surroundings .
We were a group of 4 adults ( in 50s) wife, 2 daughters 14 and 15 years and grandson 5 years, sister and brother in law
We liked the Grand Mirage and the area around Tunjung Benoa
so much it's the first time we have said lets go back to the same place next year, the rooms were deluxe sea view with great views over the ground and beach. The breakfast in the Hotel was very good, everything you can think of. Out the front of the hotel there were plenty of restaurants and we tried quite a few whilst we were there and didn't have one bad meal .The pool area and grounds open onto the beach which has a pathway running all the way down to Nusa Dua ,although we never got more than about 6 or 7 hotels down the path , too many bars and restaurants to pass , we had a
few lunchs at the various hotels along the beach and found prices most reasonable.
Our favourite bar was only about 100 metres along the beach 'Mades' you could get a bottled bintang for 8000rp which with the exchange rate being 7800 rp made them pretty cheap. With the help of a couple of Irish guys and some friends staying at the Dynasty who came over for the day , we drank them dry one afternoon.
Just in front of the bar were all the water sports parasailing, banana boat , jet skis etc, which the kids all made great use of at very reasonable prices. We found that most nights after going out to eat we migrated back to the bar in the Hotel where they had a different band every night and we had a big group of us
most nights , people we had met in the hotel from Ireland , South Africa the UK there didn't seem to be many aussies staying there. The kids loved the pool area and swim up bar, the grandson found the kids club after the ist week and we couldn't get him out of there. We found a good driver who we used quite a lot to take the seven
of us around went to Ubud for the day, waterbom park twice, once each week, even got my wife on the slides after betting I million RP she wouldn't, that went towards all the shopping she did, one good thing about staying away from Kuta was my brother-in law and myself didn't have to do any shopping at all , our wives
and daughters went into Kuta several times to shop til they dropped whilst we held up the pool bar .The staff at the hotel were some of nicest we have met couldn't do enough for you.So to sum up we loved the Hotel and the restaurants around Tanjung Benoa the beach was good with plenty to do or watch the watersports. Will go back again.
