A packed arrival hall and way past bedtime our boy was letting his displeasure be known, and loudly. Suddenly I am summoned by the Immigrasi to the front of the line and directed to take a comfortable seat in their private room while the formalities were dealt with. Welcome to Bali!
After a night at the always lovely Puri Bambu we headed to Ubud to stay at Tegal Sari. The standard room was lovely and spacious and they provided a safe and clean travel baby cot. This hotel is in a lovely setting but what makes it is the staff, so kind and helpful particularly with our son. We used their babysitting service a couple of times to go out to dinner at night and felt very comfortable doing so. I particularly enjoyed the proximity to the Zen spa and highly recommend their services, I felt like floating back a few feet off the ground after the Mandi Luhur (sp?) massage scrub and floralbath.
Warung Enak has excellent food and wine and Mozaic is pretty special but that complicated style of Fench cooking is not really my thing. I loved the eccentric Delicat for the atmosphere and yummy food.
The Delta Dewata supermarket (all the drivers know it) stocks nappies including "Huggies Ultra" and formula and other baby supplies. The formula is not the same brand as Australia but my son had no problem w it.
After Ubud we were booked to stay at Coral View Villas in Amed. It was discouraging to arrive and find the "local lads" congregating in the lobby for no apparent reason and an indifferent almost rude front desk staff. The room itself was musty with wires hanging out of the wall. We spoke to the nearby scuba centre and they only went to one site in the vicinity. We stayed a night and to their credit I have to say the garden is lovely and some of the staff try hard to do a good job. If you can get a discounted price it may be worth staying here but we decided as we were in east bali mainly to go diving we would move.
We ended up at Scuba Seraya in Tulumben. If you are a diver or not this place is "the bomb". Beautiful rooms, excellent food delightful staff and personalised dive service. I did not need anything for the baby but the staff advised they would be able to get whatever I needed and all I had to do was ask.
This was our third trip to Bali and we will definately be back soon.
If anyone has any questions I hope I can help.
