I was in bali for 3 wonderful weeks. Stayed at Garden View and as always it was so relaxed and peaceful. I was shopping for my business for most of the time I was there but still managed to have a great time. I went to area's that I had never been to before. I found some wonderful bargains and met some of the nicest people.
I purchased some gorgeous quilt covers from a shop in JL Padma Utara called Jaya Pillow. They are located on the opposite side of the road to the Garden View Cottages heading towards the Melasti. I bought Queen sized doona covers with 2 matching pillow cases for 280,000 rupiah. The fabric is like shot silk and it changes colour when you move it. Well worth a look ladies if your into that kind of thing. Every day I had a mikshake at Bali Bagus which is also in JL Padma Utara. These were definately the best milkshakes in Bali. I ate there a lot as well and could not fault the food, the cleanliness, the service or the prices. Everything was spot on. Grumpy and the other staff that work there are delightful. I shopped at Sukawati(?) markets. This was scary as there were not many westerners there and I was basically mobbed as soon as I got out of the car. I was so thankful that my shopping guide was there to help me as I have a very limited grasp on the language but she was great. I also went to a place close to Sukawati called Gianya (?) No other westerners there either but the sellers there were much more relaxed and less intimidating. Bought butterfly shirts there for 65000 rup as well as some beautiful quilts. The prices of the quilts varied a lot for different sizes but the most I paid was 150000 rup for a king size quilt. I bought quite a lot so the prices may be slightly more if your only buying one. For any regulars to GVC that frequent Celebes next door I am afraid I have some very sad news. Poppy is very, very ill and her family have taken her home to Jakata. I am not 100% sure but from what the staff there told me I think that she has cancer. Poppy hasn't been able to work for the past 2 months and is unable to eat solid foods. I am sure I am not alone in hoping that she recovers. I am counting down now until I can take my next trip to paradise. Every time I start to get the Bali blues I remind myself that I will be going back on a regular basis and that lifts my spirits again. To all of you who are heading off soon HAVE A GREAT TIME........
