Our 7th trip in 5 years.
God where do I start.
Mother Teresa (Mrs Dennisc) & I departed for 20 nights in paradise on Sat 14th July (around midday). 38kgs in bags which included about 2 kgs of OUR luggage. The rest being toys, books, presents etc for our Bali friends, the kids at Gianyar orphanage & kids at the village that Smudge, Ken & Chris from Southern Cross Bali look after.
Flew with Singapore Air from Adelaide. 7 long hours to Singers (waving to Bali as we flew over it but still with 5 hours to get there), about 90 mins in transit in Singers then a little over 2 hours flight back to Bali. Finally arriving at the island of the Gods at 9.30pm Bali time.
The service on S/air fabulous & smiling as usual, good leg room & a pleasure to fly with them. Only complaint was that the cabin was quite warm & stifling & no individual air vents. Food was good, plenty of drinks. Plates & things left in front on tray for over an hour. A little too long.
(I can say all this as Wally of the 'whingeing Police' is busy enjoying himself in Bali).
Only plane at Ngurah Rai & first in line at VOA counter thru all the counters in about 10mins. Hardly time to hear the gamelan 'music'. Collect luggage, 1 bag with 5 crosses so I cover them with other bag. As we approach the inspection counter MT decides to lift the bag up exposing the crosses 'silly #$#$@#'. Luckily the staff were chatting so straight thru.
Out to the beautiful smells & warmth of Bali & our old mate & driver Gusti. Into the carpark & Gusti opens that first welcome Bintang. Ahhhhhhhh.
I say to Gusti please take us down Kartika Plaza & the beach road on our way to our first digs at the Lokha hotel in JL Padma.
Stay tuned if you want more.
