We are taking our 5th trip from California in four weeks, and can recommend a few upscale hotels. Visiting Ubud is a must for quiet time, and I'd have a look at the Four Seasons Sayan, and a small step down.. Maya Ubud. Both outstanding. The Alila Ubud is nice too with a great pool. For some beach time you can't go wrong at the Four Season Jimbaran (private walled villas with plunge pools), or the Ritz Carlton. The pool at the Ritz is one of the best in the world (humble opinion). Allow some extra time home on your return for serious jet-lag.
