Booked this trip through Nicno about March this year, just as she was preparing to head off to bali herself. We also included a five night stay in Singapore on the way home. Organising the Bali section was easy for her but getting accomodation in Singers proved to be a pain in the butt. However she came through with flying colours. We booked ourselves through on the internet check-in and selected our own seat allocation and printed our boarding passes. After five minutes in the airport we were through the internet check-in lane and on our way to Customs and Immigration. Bloody terrific.Six and a half hours to Changi airport and then a wait of one hour and a two and a half hour flight to Bali. VOA, Immigration,(no request for a tip this time) Customs, all in about ten minutes. Wonderful. Then a half hour wait for bags to come around. Taxi from the desk outside and away we went.Booked into the Puri Raja and did not waste any time in hitting the pillow as it was now after midnight and 10 hours flying. Day 2 up for breakfast early walked around the area looking for the dark haired lady with the bright red lipstick in the tour shop who is also a money changer. No luck so off we went to Bintang Supermarket with the money that we did have and the first item purchased was the dozen large bintangs. Beth spotted durian in the F&V section which was prepared ready to eat. Have waited over 20 years to try durian so into the trolley it went.A lovely fruit with a custard-like flavour but not something you can eat too much of as it is very rich.Back to the hotel and re-arranged the fridge to put our goods in but the freezer was in desperate need of a defrost so thats what it got. Worked perfectly the next day. Went for another stroll and found the money changer. A very honest person she is too. Places the money on the counter and tells you to please check. She does not touch the money again. Was offered countless numbers of free tickets in the promotion lottery to win good prizes. Yeah right. Been there done that. Lunch at La Monde was Gado Gado and chicken satays.Drinks and nuts on the balcony was very relaxing.Day 3 was around the pool and watched couple having a great time with their grand-daughters and a local lass with her young daughter. Few more bintangs and then off to S&S to meet up with other forunites as arranged by Shybeajay. Turns out the people we were watching in the pool was Bev(shybeajay) and her husband Ross with their grandchildren. Also met Dennisc and Carol and Alan and his wife and others that I can't remember names. What a bugger to start getting old. Met Suzie and Sammy with his mouth full of pearly whites and had a great time Picked up some useful info from Ross and Dennis and Bev suggested that we go to Legends for a Christmas in July dinner in 3 days time. Left it to Bev to book the table and then Beth and I went off to Bali Bagus for dinner. Very good food and wonderful friendly staff.Back to the hotel and sat outside to reduce the number of bintangs we had in the fridge. Will continue the serial tomorrow.
