We book our flights, that way we get the dates we want, we pay our deposit and give the agent the names of 3 or 4 hotels and let her know that we will confirm our accom closer to our departure, we are currently booked for Nov, May and Sep, all deposits are paid, I have to pay for Nov by the 20th Sep, mind you our agent is one of my sons mates sisters, which helps. But we have been doing this for years with different agents, no problems, no worries about not being able to get a flight. It works. We have only ever cancelled once and that was in 99 because of the trouble they were having in Bali at the time, we got all of our money back.
