Hi,
My wife, son and I recently spent time in Ubud and went on a couple of fantastic tours operated by PT Bali Budaya Tours (operated by an Australian, Steve, with years of experience in Bali with himself and local drivers and guides).

We did the "Bali Eco Cycling Tour" (great equipment and safety gear) and the "Jungle Trek" (a lovely day out in the jungle of northern Bali).

We also met some people at our hotel who had done similar looking tours but of a far lesser quality and enjoyment. It appears that many local tour operators are taking advantage of PT Bali Budaya's good name and have almost identical brochures and destinations.

We suggest travellers check out very carefully who they are actually dealing with before signing up for tours. Of course, everyone in Bali survives on "commissions" for bookings/referrals (particularly the Hotels) and have their preferences for who pays them the most.

Again, we would like to thank Steve for some lvely memories of the "real" Bali.

Garry and Julia Winkler
