HI, your kids would never forgive you if you didn't stay at BGH.
The rooms are a little tired but the omlettees and banana pancakes at breakfast make up for that. The lift can be a bit slow so if your not good in confined spaces take the stairs. The Superior rooms can be a bit noisey because most face the road. We just leave the TV on and we don't hear a thing. The Deluxe rooms face the water and are very Quiet. The Main bar has a nice pool table for free use.
The pool bar is worth relaxing at for at least 1 day.
Bubba Gumps (a restaraunt based on Forrest Gump the Movie) The staff have special set things they do. Turn over the RUN FORREST RUN sign to get served and buy a Margarita and they all sing for you. The food is beautiful Bourbon Mahi Mahi and Accidental fish are to die for. We would spend about $50 AUD for the 5 of us with cocktails and drinks. One advantage is being on the beach, you can buy fireworks when your out shopping. We finish every night ( when we haven't had too much ARAK)with our own fireworks show on the beach, there is a huge range but the ones with the red flying dragon on the box make the most noise. We have stayed at the Hard Rock, Dynasty and Bali Hai in the past and we go back to BGH every year now. By all means check out the pool at the Hard Rock, its unreal.
Waterbom park across the road (get a return pass before you leave), Discovery plaza next door, where $10 AUD buys you hours of fun in the games arcade.
If you want to ride elephants, go to the Elephant Safari park in Taro, its recommended by the Late Steve Irwin. Turn right when leaving BGH on main road and walk down to a little arcade on the same side of the road to book any tours, they are very cheap.
Shopping is great at Ramayana's in Denpasar and if you go thru the toughs of clothes in the middle of the isles you get stuff dirt cheap and Geneva's for wood craft(there on the internet), three stories of wood and cheap.
And the best drivers in Bali are Dewa and Matti, 300000rph (Last year) a day or transfers cheap and a nice new 7 seater, their number is +628123918718.
I hope this has helped
