The airlines won't increase their direct flights there unless there are numbers to support the flights & there can't be numbers to support the flights until more direct services are available, as people generally aren't willing to fly for longer/further/more expense to get there. We had to go via Darwin from Sydney on the way there & back (or fly economy with Jetstar, which we didn't want to do), but were fortunate enough to stay in Darwin for the night on the way there & have the use of the Qantas Club in both directions, which makes it more comfortable. We actually really enjoyed spending the time Darwin and loved the fact that each flight was a max of 3 hours, but all up it probably cost us an extra AU$450 or so to do it this way. I would love to see Qantas flights direct from Sydney to Bali again. Cheers, Sue.
