For those who like more than Kuta and love the culture the Bali Bird Walk is a fantastic experience. In fact it is far more then looking at birds, it is a whole cultural experience, walking through the rice fields learning traditional medicines from the plants found along the way, seeing rice being cultivated. The beautiful birds and butterflies seen along the walk are a bonus. The walk starts at 9am near the bridge in Ubud opposite Murni's Restaurant. During the walk one of the rice farmers collects coconuts for drinks and makes an ingeneous drinking lip ( a small tip is appreciated ). Su, the local guide is an encyclopedea of knowledge, not only of the birds and butterflies but of Balinese culture.
