I rang them yesterday to make sure of the food they were serving. I was told that I would probably have to hand them and an accompanying letter, over to the air hostesses when I boarded the plane and that they would give them back to me at the end of the flight. I wasn't overly happy but figured that as long as they are on the plane within reach somewhere it shouldn't be an issue. The lady I spoke to said it was because it was a needle. (even though it's not a very long one. I have travelled with my daughter the last couple of years and never had this problem. May it's a new thing.
