I have done the trip to Java by boat and thought it was a wonderful trip in itself. There is much to see on the way and certainly better than being on a bus, unless you get seasick of course. When i did the trip, 17 years ago, kids would be along side the boat (while moored) and would dive for coins thrown by the passengers.
Finally able to conribute something to this forum.
