Is so very honest, and certainly displays the character of Bali today and yesterday. I also have been traveling to Bali since 1984, but because it has been fairly frequent, the changes have not been so noticeable to me as in your experience. Actually, it is really amazing that Bali has been able to retain its social and religious lifestyle so far - in spite of the degrading impact of tourists.
Actualy, should anyone need a real introduction to Indonesia, central Java is the place to be. I had the most wonderful life experiences in places such as Yogyakarta and Batu.
