where I've lived for the past 17 years. If you want to get out of the tourist areas and see how the Balinese and other Indonesians live their lives, Singaraja is a good place to hang out. The pace of life is slow. We often have tourists wander down along the beach road in Kampung Bugis and stop and talk to the fishermen and folks sitting along the seawall. There are a few interesting temples in this are - Buddhist, Hindu, Chinese, as well as many mosques and churches. The Lovina area is the place where most tourists stay and then drive in for the day or an afternoon.
