You're right, it would be a major hassle on the footpaths. It's hard enough with a single stroller getting in and out of shops, etc.

There are a heap of walks where you would be OK (e.g. the pedestrian road by the beach in Legian, or the boardwalk in Sanur), but in the majority of places, you'd have some difficulty, I think.

Maybe try a backpack style carrier before you go? I know the Ergo carrier can hold up to 25kg. I have a friend who swears by it, and who still puts her 5 yr old in it for long hikes. They're lightweight and made of cotton, too, so would be great in the hot weather.
