Another option is a new golf course being built near Dreamland Beach south of Kuta.
When I was there in May, 9 holes were complete and open for play.
The management said the other 9 holes would be finished by August but I doubt it.
So for now, we just played the same 9 holes twice.
Because it is so new, the course was practically empty, made for very relaxed golf.
It is a very long, difficult course but very fun.
From the tips it is 6800meters (7400+ yards?). But there are 4 other tee boxes so an acceptable length can be found.
The 9 holes already completed are the ones that run down to the ocean, with amazing cliffside views over the beach at holes 14, 15, 16.. (Note: holes 10-18 are the ones already completed.)
I liked it so much I bought a memebership.
I will be arriving Bali in August also.

I'm not sure, but I think my membership will get you a 50% discount as my guest which should put the green fee around rp 700.000 which includes cart and caddie (but not caddie tip).
