of mine whom I have the utmost confidence in, was telling me recently that he had run into these rather unusual but likeable gentlemen at the Cat & Fiddle.
One of them, assumably Surly Early mistook my mate for an old military aquaintance and bought him a beer even though my mate had never laid eyes on him before. Surely this indicates that Surly has a sight problem as well as his documented hearing ailment. They struck an immediate friendship.
The only downside was the old boys kept asking for the juke box to be turned up - staff indicated that the local irish band couldn't sing any louder, but an additional 2 spoons were added, as playing one spoon wasn't proving that effective in an irish band.
My admiration goes out to these gents for their G & D in embarking on such an adventure at their age.
