Spent 15 days in the isle of smiles. We went in a group of 16 people, 3 families, and stayed at the Bali Dynasty. All parties agreed the hotel was absolutely fantastic, and so were the staff. This was our second stay at the Dynasty, and we'll go back again.
The other two families used D*** as a driver (as noted in Don's guide to Bali) and he was absolutely fantastic, and inexpensive. Always punctual, and would bend over backwards to help us in any way possible. We organise DVD's through H****, another recommendation in the guide, he too was fantastic, however, after buying DVD's from other sources felt him a tad expensive. We ate at a number of restuartants, Warung 96, Made's Warung, Poppies (overrated), Indonational (fantastic), La Trattoria (disgusting toilet, food not too bad, not recommended), and Mykonos in Seminyak, Il Cielo and Febris (opposite Dynasty) and Tan pai (on the beach near the Dynasty) all were fantastic in price and food quality. I do not recommend the Green Garden in Tuban (next to Dynasty) or La Trattoria in Seminyak.

This was my family's third trip to Bali, so no tours this time, only relaxing on the beach, massages, plenty of food and Bintang. We went to the Bounty Disco twice, had too many Jam Jars, and my wife and daughter had to assist me home (LOL).

It was disappointing to note that not too many tourists were around, and with the increased warning in the second week, trade diminished markedly for the locals. We are all suffering withdrawal symptoms and can't wait for our next trip over there. The locals are great, friendly, and love a chat, it is unfortunate that the warnings are keeping tourits away from this wonderful place.
