Left on Garuda flight on Monday 18th June, left on time and a great flight, sat beside Bali Newbies, great to try and help them with a few things. Picked up at airport after spending 2 1/2 hrs. in customs with over the counter meds for Southern Cross Bali, doesnt matter if we are trying to help, customs still want their kick backs, not from me. Kutuk waiting for me so of to Ricky's Bar for 1 or 6, (6 I think Binnies) great to meet the boys and have a few with them, Kutuk took me to Suri Wathi where I was to spend first 14 days, made big impression by falling up steps when I got there, think it was that last 6th bintang that did it. Bali, a smell and feel of its own, home again. Suri Wathi a pretty good budget hotel, meet a few people there but in all pretty quiet. Caught up with a few of the BTF's while there. 2nd day went on the bus trip Jaque had organise, we had a great time and as Jacque said the Gosht Palace is great, then on to Crackers, shame he wasnt there as was looking forward to meeting him but the girl on the bar realy looked after us. Went shopping at the markets and brought two big drums (shame I could not get them back to Australia, waisted 400.000rph but you get that. We had fun coming back in the bus playing them, Rob was just starting to get pretty good by the time we got to the Indo National, more bintangs.
Had a few quiet days until Nessie arrived then a few meeting with SCBA but lots of dinners at different Warangs, to many to mention except one on double 6 that we called "The Gutter" had to walk down a few steps to get to it, best Indo food I have ever eaten.
Got to go to Singaraga to see Luh my sponsor child from Helen Fllavel Foundation, unfortunatly school closed for holidays but still had a look around, then John alias Johnny be good took us to buy food, we went to Lovina for lunch then on to Luh's village to give her and her family the food we had brought. I had let myself be ripped off big time the night before, in a hurry and paid 200,000rph instead of 20,000rph for 6 skyrockets for the village, did'nt matter, they were realy happy to get them as their Christmas was coming up a few days later and the village could let them off then. I was lucky enough to take a lady called Shirley up with me on the trip, sadley she passed away 4 days later in Bali, she was a beautiful person and so happy that she had seen the Bali she had never seen before, I will remember her for the joy she showed that day and the love she showed the children of that village, MAY YOU REST IN PEACE SHIRLEY.
