- Ubud; for paddies go to Jatiluwih west of Pacung/Bedugul; for temples try Pura Luhur Batukaru west of Jatiluwih or Pura Rambut Siwi out on the south west coast between Mediwi surf beaches and the capital city of Negara. Be prepared to stop frequently along these routes for anything that catches your eye.
You will find the light before 10 and after 4 even more significant in this tropical latitude than in Oz (I'm presuming thats where you're from). Mid-day light in the forests can give you something to do at that time of the day though.
I believe that the west coast light has a green tinge but on the east coast the cast is more blue. Don't know why this is but it could be the different seas/oceans that meet the shores.
The sunsets can be great along the eastern shore anywhere fron Ulu Watu to way past Tanah Lot but the sunrises are even more spectacular and different along the east coast, its just that they come at a very inconvenient time. Still, a cold bottle of bubbly and a close friend can bring its own rewards at that time of the day.
