Buy a sim card from one of the many sim card sellers in Bali. If you tell us where you are staying we can direct you to a seller close by.
Make sure your mobile is not locked to an Aus network (if it uses a prepaid card, try someone elses sim card in your phone, if it works, it should indicate its not locked).
You can buy cards for as little as 50000 and that will include heaps of credit.
Prefrably buy a XL (brand ) card.
If you call Australia you use the prefix 01000 then the Australian number, eg to call Aus 03 9789 1122,
you would dial 01000 61 3 9789 1122 costs about 17c per minute.
to call locally is much cheaper.
Sms's are only a few cents too (actually all cheaper than using your mobile at home).

Just remember if you are ringing your husband on his Aus mobile, you must prefix it with 01000.
