I'd probably feel the same way. I've been on one of those tours too on an early visit. It's a shame you chose a crappy tour, as some are really good. It doesn't sound like you did much research before you went.
Most of us have a love/hate relationship with Bali if we're honest about it. Love the weather, shopping, the food, the hotels, the scenery, etc. Hate the bullsh*t of getting ripped off, hassled to buy, hassled for transport, the complicity, etc.
For most of us, the good outweighs the bad which is why many of us return & grow to love the place despite it all. And yes, it is cheap & close to Australia which adds to the attraction!
