Sounds like you should have done your research a little better on your holiday choice....sh*t I wouln't go anywhere without knowing exactly what to expect of my destination and if you had read these forums enough or done some research you would have realised Bali was going to be as you described.
I think you made your mind up about Bali in the first day a "tourist hole" and made no attempt to appreciate it on a more spirtual/emotional/personal level and thus didnt get anything out of it...your loss, better luck next time.
