If you listen to what Downer said it was that they have been receiving warnings of increased activity "for some time". These are NOT new warnings, if you read the DFAT site it says
"This advice has been reviewed and reissued. It contains new information under the Summary and Safety and Security: Terrorism (terrorist attacks could take place at any time and could be imminent). The overall level of the advice has not changed. "
So despite what the evening news says, the level of warning has NOT been upgraded.
Of course, it is up to you - you need to assess the risk whereever you wish to travel. Would you go on holiday to London right now?
How come there is no warning for travel to England?? The country is on high alert and is currently suffering attacks.
