BUT, and this is a big but, we've been lucky enough to be involved in an arisan for many many years. This is a social gathering within a community, apparently it's a fairly old-fashioned idea. After many visits last year, we thought that we should really repay the wonderful favour fiben to us on so many occassions. Talking to our friends, about how to invite everbody ( about 30 or so people, including kids) somebody made the offhand remark that we should take them to Maccas. I said 'yeah right," (cos I hate the stuff), and my Indonesian sister said 'they would love that'. So I did the research, and hired out the top floor/party room in Sanur Maccas. They wouldn't offer any special deals to my Indo friends, so we went in to negotiate. We ordered the top of the line deal (IIRR it was a burger, small chips, & drinks) Maybe it was 20,000 each adult, cheaper for kids. I also got them to include a free icecream for everyone, they didn't want to, but I told a small white lie, and said that in Australia that would be automatic. IT WAS FANTASTIC!!!!! We had the whole party floor for about 3 hours, with music, the kids ran wild. The parents loved it, cos people who had never had the oppotunity to eat Maccas, did. I had positive, fantastic feedback for about a week. That's my 2 cents worth.
