We were in Bali in May and Dengue fever was rife. They were fogging the beaches, homes etc. Sanglah Hospital was full they were leaving them in the passageways also a lot of the private hospitals were full. It was rather scary. Dengue is caused by the early morning and dusk mosquito can,t be seen or heard and malaria by the night mosquito can be heard, the only answer is to wear light coloured clothes NO BLACK, NO PERFUME, and settle for eau de autun (insect repellant). A Dr. we spoke to who specialises in tropical meds. said it was due to the unseasonal rains and rubbish around. So just cover up and be careful.
