I love Alam Sari as it is very quiet and laidback (except for the loud road noise at night!) When Alam Sari was built the road was a dead end but the World Bank paid for a bridge over a river at the end of the road and now it joins to Tegallalang and has become a main thoroughfare.
The staff are lovely at Alam Sari but your kids might be bored as there is not much to do for them and the village is a fair walk up the hill. Also the pool is right outside the rooms and it is unfenced - I would be concerned unless they can swim.
