My contributions the the Helen Flavel Foundation satisfy me that I am giving something back to the people of Bali in a most practical way. I have utmost faith in the integrity of this project and I find that when the subject of money comes up during conversation with Balinese people I conveniently "drop" this into the conversation and invariably the response I get is appreciative to the extent where I am not getting hard luck stories which could possibly be "engineered" to procure financial assistance. Of course there are individuals who are doing it tougher than others but how would you possibly confirm the veracity of such a situation?
I'm trying to put this delicately because it is such a touchy subject but one has to draw the line somewhere, we can't possibly as individuals "cure" the poverty in Bali, neither are we personally responsible for that situation but we can make a difference where it counts.
As Kristal has said just keep returning to Bali and that alone contributes greatly to their collective economy.
