Friends of ours are flying from Auckland in June and are flying Singapore Airlines Auckland - Singapore - Denpasar. They chose this way for minimal stopover time and costs. They looked at doing Auckland - Sydney then Jetstar to Bali and home via Melbourne but by the time you add all the extra expenses in with Jetstar they found it not much difference in price. Another way was with Royal Brunei which I believe where cheaper but the stopover was longer ... goodluck and happy travels : )
