We had told our friend to contact us if he ever need help. In 8 years he has only asked once- please heleb me. He had been unwell and the weather was not good. we sent him money thru Western Union. He bought rice and also gave some money to another friend of ours(and asked us if this was ok first). It was obvious he had not recieved money from abroad before as it cost us a small fortune in text messages telling him how to recieve it. He has been so good to us over the years- helping us if we were sick etc. I understand that not every-one can afford to do this- but we all help in some way by visiting their beautiful country. My family just felt sooo good in knowing that the money had been recieved direct by someone we value as a dearest friend. He knows that we cant afford it on a regular basis, he never asked for money- just a simple please heleb me. We have sacrificed to send him some money, but I am sure it will be spent on much more needed day to day items, than if I had used it at the shops here myself.I dont want to boast, but I just feel so good about having done what I did. I told my boys that if they could put just $1 per day away that it would be a great help to a family some where in the world--and Bali is our choice. We do help underpriviliged people in our country too.
