I Have used porters on all my seven trips to Bali and have only found one who was a delight to deal with. I have had A$20 demanded every time and last trip I found that one fellow was preying on his own. A nice porter came to me and I said yes he could carry our luggage and half way to the exit another two porters latched on and stood over him and demanded that I pay them only. I felt that the first porter was afraid of them. I refused to do this and all three porters only took me to where your pick up waits. I have only had one porter in the seven trips take me right out to the van. I usually always give them 10,000rp each. I have also asked that I only need one porter but the last two trips this has fallen on deaf ears and that is arriving and leaving.
