I've been working in Jakarta for nearly 3 years now.. I basically just turned up in the country and found a teaching job. I was just in the right place at the right time. Here for teaching jobs its not what you know, but WHO you know.. :)

Teaching jobs are easy to come by, but you really have to be wary of the company, and what they are offering you. Before I got my current job, I worked at two different places, who made false promises, and then they decided oh we cant afford you anymore and made me leave. At least they did pay for the work I did.

My suggestion is look at www.thejakartapost.com for vacancies..
www.eslcafe.com and go into the Indonesian forum there, and ask questions...

there are recruiting places, but I'd have to go thru my files to find the websites for you... just do a google search, I'm sure you'll come up with something.

Another thing to consider is... do you have a degree (people do get teaching jobs here without degrees) it does help to have one. Do you want to work at a national plus school (local school using western curriculum) with crap pay...

Or do you want to work at an International school, where lots of experience is a must, with a degree or masters, however the benefits are much better, housing, insurance, and pay in US DOLLARS... :)

any questions feel free to email me

Christine
