ALL tattoos look red and sore after they're done. That's what happens when your skin gets repeatedly jabbed by little needles, lol.

It's not a sign of a dodgy tattooist, it's just the way it is. I had a small one done on the back of my shoulder last year from a local tattooist at home, who is one of the most recommended around. It apparently looked red and sore when my parents saw it that night but it felt fine to me. Never got infected or any other trouble with it.

Of course they hurt a bit, and I'm sure the bigger ones hurt more, but it's not all that bad. It was described to me as being like having the back of a sharp knife blade dragged across your skin - and that seemed pretty accurate to what I felt. Of course mine only took half an hour, lol, so my tolerance didn't have to last too long.
