If your going from Bali it's very convinient to use Perama Tours. You can go with them from Kuta down to Padangbai, then on the public ferry and when reaching Lombok Perama will be there to pick you up for further transport to Bangsal and then on the public boat to Trawangan. You can also charter a boat from Bangsal to Trawangan, being 6 of you to split the cost, it'll be cheap. It's a long trip count 9-10 hours.
