I tend to disagree on any costs being cheap on oz phones while overseas, even sms.
With Bali sim, sms cost is 300rp locally and 500rp to outside indo.(about 4c and 7c).
I reckon it's worth the small time taken to put your contacts into a local sim whilst there. You also then avoid the problems of contacts ringing you, not knowing that it is actually costing YOU a fortune to tell them to hurry up and finish the call.
