We have just returned, spent 10days in Kuta Lombok. It is not the same as Bali, the people are not so artistic or creative, obviously there is a huge difference in Religion, and they do frown on some of oue western ways, and they are much poorer. But we had a great time stayed in a great place and all the locals we met were friendly, polite and helpful. The country is also different to Bali and the cliffs and rock formations are fantastic.
I have not been to Sengiggi or the Gillis though, hope too next trip.
