Last June whilst in Bali I really wanted to buy a silver feather (pendant) to wear as I necklace.I was told the word for feather was "bulu" so attempted at many silver and jewellery stores to buy a silver "bulu", only to have people either look at me in disgust or fall down laughing hysterically! It was eventually explained to me that the word"bulu" used on it's own means pubic or body hair, I had been asking for a pubic hair necklace! The item I wanted was a "bulu ayam", feather(hair) of bird or chicken. How embarrasment!! It really was funny though. Oh by the way I did fid one.
