Hi,
we took our 2 kids when they were 4 and 6 months. We had no problems at all. in fact we found we got hassled alot less as everyone kept coming over to talk to the kids, smiling and holding their hands and we didnt seem to get a lot of hard selling because they were more interested in talking to the kids.
our 4 year old didnt get hassled. but she kept getting given the timeshare card things and being young she would just take it. so once we had told her to not take anything and to just say no thank you, she got the hang of it pretty quick and i remember her telling a guy selling cd's whilst we were in a restuarant 'no thank you'before we even had a chance to.
We got her to practise saying Tidak Terima Kasih ( not sure on spelling) 'No thank you' and they thought it was funny and cute and they then taught her how to say 'your welcome' aswell
We are going back in June with them, they are 6 and 2 now. Bali left a big impression on our eldest and she cant wait to go back. Her impression of the people is not of pushyness and hassling but of friendliness and smiles. Relax and they will too :)
The only thing i did find is they know if they show something to you for your kids you will probably end up buying it due to your kids hassling you aswell. we found it difficult to bargain hard and look like your not that fussed if you get it or not when your 4 year old is there going "oh please, please, i really want it' ( like they do) in front of the sellers. It kind of takes the edge of your hard bargaining skills!! Cheers :)
