Yes Chris, I am a little diffferent to most Bali holidayers in many ways. I read how people advise others to budget on average $100 or more per day whilst in Bali. I guess it comes down to the wants and needs of the individual, and more particularly in my case, availability of funds. I am definately not a Cheap Charlie, just find the further I can make my $'s go, the longer I can stay in the beautiful land.
I am very lucky to have a network of friends in Bali, both Aussie expats and locals, built up from going over since 1980. They contribute in a large way to my holiday enjoyment. Love to travel to the north of the island, stay in Lovina area, enjoy the peace & quiet and generally de-stress. Countryside, mountains, bays etc are beautiful and it costs nothing to observe and take it all in.
Love local food, which we buy mainly from stalls & small warungs, easily eat very well for 50,000Rp per day.
Biggest problem I have is one or two of my aquaintances in Bali insist on lengthy Bintang meetings, at which my budget gets blown to the scheisenhausen. I am a very weak-willed person in that regard and get influenced very easily by them.

So Chris, I believe it is all a matter of personal choice.
I have a great time, live within my small means, but feel I never go without whilst in Bali.(I visit Lombok on each holiday and same applies there).

Kind regards & happy spending whatever the amount.
