There were four ladies basically on a shopping trip Feb 28 - March 6 staying at Kuta Townhouses. I was shopping for hubby and a 5 year old boy and a 9year old girl.
Department Stores
1. We visited many of the major stores. Matahari in Kuta Square was busy but we did not buy much there. The Sariayasu range of Marth Tillaar was available at the supermarket but not the range we were after. Bought some Revlon for about one third of the price.
2. Matahari at the Galleria had pretty much the same range of goods. I like looking at the other shops there such as Nine West (check their reduced to clear table), Osh Kosh and other label stores. Nike 'outlet' had good bargains.
3. Visited Ace Hardware but found it expensive. Only bought a Maglite Torch which was slightly cheaper than Australia.
4. Ramayana and Tiara Dewata in Denpasar were also worth a visit. Sakura is on the top floor of Ramayana and is good for DVDs.
5. Two visits to Makro. Bought water, items for our care packages (see JBR Part 1), lollies, stationery and pharmacy items. Even little things such as bandaids are a bargain. If you have young kids, you know how many bandaids they can go through. Saw the same packet of bandaids (100 cloth) for $13 at the chemist the other day. Gillette razors and replacement blades and batteries were much cheaper as well. Double sided stickytape were ten rolls for less than three dollars. On our second visit three days later, they had added clothing. Sponge Bob and Dora the Explorer outfits were about $7 a set. First time I had seen them there.
6. We visited the fairy shop on Poppies Lane 1. We have been there twice before and have always found them the cheapest. Bumblebee outfit was 40 000R and a mermaid outfit was 50 000R. Wands and tiaras were around 15000 to20000. Also visited the one on Jalan Padma Utara that is much bigger. The same bumblebee outfit was 90 000R there.
7. Centro - bit of an eyesore for me but found the sports shop on the ground floor had a great sale and bought girls chlorine resistant Speedo bathers for $7 and there were ladies sizes for a fraction more. Good DVD and Gameboy shop.
8. Jennies and Tootsies at Sanur. We always make a visit there on our first day to get an idea of prices and to clear a few things on our list. Prada bags were around 100 000R. good surf shirts, wallets, glasses and a Roxy backpack (35 000R). We bought a couple of things at the other shops to appease them rather than because we wanted them.
9. We visited three surf factory outlets. The Billabong sale was not on this time. There is a factory outlet on Jalan Ngurah Rai Bypass ( two side by side). Like many outlets, it is pot luck and you may have to do some searching but I did buy some goog girls shirts. There is another one near Kuta Istana Galleria. There is major intersection near the Alta Moda side of Istana Galleria. ON the street leading to the intersection there is an outlet. I bought Quiksilver shorts here for about half price. The third outlet on Jalan Bunasari was a multibrand sale and was one of the venues for the Billabong sale last year. There were surf and skate brands on sale. My only purchases were girls one piece Billabong bathers ( 90% off) for 18 000R ($2.60)
10. Pearls were bought at UC Beads & Permata Ganesha which are both next to Bintang Supermarket which is also worth a fossick through. You buy the pearls by the strand, choose a design or keep it plain and they thread an put a clasp on it.
11. DVDs were pre ordered and delivered to our apartment. We had asked for not good copies to be held off and these were delivered on our last day in the best possible quality for the movie.
12. A BTF recommendation was to go to Rudy Art. Jalan Sunset Road, Seminyak It is good for home renovators but if you go upstairs there are bowls, chess sets and other small itmes made of marble. We bought bathroom accessories such as a toothbrush cup and soap dish. They were cheap around $5 but heavy. They do look stunning.
13. CHILL spa, although is not shopping, is the ultimate reflexology experience. Booking is better. You are taken into a room where your feet are washed under a mini waterfall type thing. You are led into a room with low lights and given MP3 players. We had the reflexology where two people work on you. IT'S on Jalan Kunti which is the same street as Bali Deli.
