Hey there princesdd,
Here's a few different tips that your partner may not even get annoyed about.
* Leave your anger, frustration & aggro at home;
* Bring your smile, humour & manners with you;
* Slow down, don't rush, just amble around & take the time to smell the roses so to speak;
* Talk with the locals about their lives & yours. Could be a chance to go to a local village for a ceremony;
* Remember you are in a another country with a different culture & attitude;
* Greet everyone in the street as they do to you. You'll be surprised how good this feels after a while, especially the kids;
* Try to learn a new bahasa Indonesia word each day, the hotel staff will help & it is fun when you muck it up. The locals appreciate that you are trying & will help;
* Be flexible with time (jam karet - rubber time), the Balinese don't really have a concept of early or late;
I could keep going on & on but I guess that will do for a while.
Hope this helps
Mitch
