We hadn't been to Bali Modern for about 6 months until Saturday evening & again today for lunch. It's our new fave Perth restaurant, of any sort.

Have to let all you Balinese food-lovers in Perth know that it's changed hands and has improved hugely. The decore is much better without all those kitchy marble things for sale. Instead there are framed pics of Bali on the walls & dividing screens with a magnificent, intricately carved, huge wooden relief of the Last Supper (surprisingly).

We just loved the food, even our son who is not keen on Indonesian food ate vast amounts at lunch today. On Sat we had the Sat special of Yellow rice set - for $12 a cone of nasi kuning was surrounded by 15 different morsels, all delicious & different and a huge meal. Today we had several dishes from the menu - gado2, chicken satay, mie goreng, balinese chicken for $40. Both times we were given a delightful desert of sago, caramel sauce & icecream for free.

I know this sounds a bit like an ad, but for those who are perhaps tired of the old Bali Modern, give the new version a try because, selfishly, we don't want it to have to close down. It very much needs bums on seats.

Selamat makaan.
