BGH once last year after reading the rave reviews from this forum but I wouldn't stay there again. We had 3 nights there on the way home and, while I can see what might attract some people to stay there, it wasnt really my sort of place.
The hotel is in a great location but doesnt take advantage of its beachfont. The beachside restaurant has been closed. The layout is warren-like and the corridors are quite dark. It is easy to become disoriented. The breakfast is served in an outside/inside eating area and as there were so many smokers staying we always tried to get an outside seat but it usually wasnt possible and meant that we were crowded inside in a haze of smoke.
The rooms are well appointed particularly for the money but room security is pretty poor. Our door to the outside balcony was not lockable and was held closed by a security chain slide and the front door lock was loose and could have easily been forced. There were also smokers in the room next door who would smoke leaning over their balcony and into ours and meant our area often smelt of smoke and our privacy was pretty limited.
The hotel security was also almost non-existant, nothing from the beach side and a cursory look through the boot from the front entrance.
While we were there, it seemed that most of the other guests were older, mostly smoking Australians who were, at best, patronising and condescending towards the staff and at worst outrightly rude and racist.
I know that to some, these complaints might seem minor and they probably are, but we just found that it wasnt our sort of place and we wouldnt go back.
